Victoria

Hi folks,

getting back to my roots and having a good time in the Vic high country. Nearly came unstuck, caught a few fish and melted the hubcaps on the front wheels on some steep descents. Subi motor is rooted so another one is going in. If you want a Subi conversion or any T3 work speak to Luke at Bayside Motor Garage in Moorabbin. It's all he does. Best operator I've met.

Sensational Mark.

Whats wrong with the existing Suby donk?

Got you out and home again by the look of it....

Hi Mark,

Out of interest, what is the name of the hill you managed to get up with the syncro ? I’m also ex-Victorian.

Cheers,

Theo

Hi Scott,

high temp head gasket leak, and valve stem seals probably - using a lot of oil. Has had head gasket work before and a helicoil stud so I've decide to move on. Kept me going but just didn't want to try another fix on it.
On the head gasket subject only use triple steel gaskets on these engines.

Hi Theo,

I did a lot of tracks. Some tricky ones for anyone game to try ( I wouldn't do them without front and back lockers ) are Mt Pinnibar heading up from Tom Groggin, Wonnangatta station Charles spur track. The pic is from a bad choice I made getting out of the Dargo River Twiggy track. I put the log behind the syncro and backed up that in order to get down and have another go. Scared the crap outta me.

Hema maps is the go.

Beautiful and inspiring territory that you don't find over west.

Thanks for the tips.

The beauty of these suby donks is you can pick up a second hand one so cheap as there are so many around and just swap over your bits to it.

Cant do that with a Wbx these days....

My head gaskets were done prior to my ownership and are still looking fine so I hope they used good quality head gaskets in my engine.

Im sure you will have another suby donk in there quick smart and off driving through more trails.

Cheers,

Scott

Thanks Mark,

Yes, very challenging tracks and so many hills to claim. Done the Wonnangatta station with a friend many many years ago in a Haflinger and not a soul around.

Cheers,

Theo
