VW Nationals - Sydney 27/05/2012

Still not sure if the syncro can come yet as the insurance is being dicked around by the scooby motor and they now want to look at it so I am organising that at the moment.

Hopefully it will go through before the Nationals????

If not I will be down in another VW either the 71 bus or the Golf. See u all there.

Thanks Ben - It would suit me fine if i could stay somewhere near you Saturday night and then follow you, your dad and Phil into the show. Do you have a mobile number to contact you to let you know when I expect to arrive. Being in a campervan I'm pretty much self contained and being from pommieland originally I don't even know what a bath is.
Hope all those attending can meet inside as suggested. It does seem to weaken our case as a recognised branch of VDubbery if we can't all be together.
Anyone else from down South heading up?

Roger, there is no camping spots at the venue, but that wouldnt stop me from just pulling up in the carpark. At least you would be the first there!
You are welcome to park out the front of my place Saturday night, but I cannot offer you a bed as I dont have any spare.I live in Menai which is no more than 30 mins drive to the Nationals.I usually drive past my Dads and Phills and we go in convoy.

There is some confusion as to and who is entering into the "show and shine".I say those who are entering to be in the carpark by 7.15 and we can all drive in together by 7.30.This worked OK last year,as we had minimum wait for entry and we all got a good spot together.

I also ask all those who are considering the park in the carpark option to reconsider as I believe that the more of us in the actual show the better. Why have two groups, lets all get together and have a great day like the last two Nats have been.

Those who are going to enter into the under cover carpark please respond to this post so we can get an idea as to who we have to wait for, before we enter.
Looking foward to seeing some great Vdubs and having a chat.
Thanks
BenC

Dear Ken and Ben,

Thanks for both your suggestions. I want to try to fit in a visit to Trakka on Sat 26th which is in the North - Mt Kuring-gai whereas I believe Menai is South and the National are West.  Ken's advice may save me first heading South and then back up to the Nationals.
Ben I therefore would rather see your mob  there unless of course for some reason I only get to Sydney Saturday evening. In that case I would let you know well in advance on your mobile phone  and would be very grateful if you don't report to the police that a dishevelled bloke had set up camp in the street outside your place on Saturday night.
Either way I'll let you know what's happening Saturday morning.26th.
Cheers and thanks.

Roger,
May I suggest meeting up with you at Trakka at your chosen time on the Saturday, as some will be passing Mt. Kuringai anyway heading south to the Nationals. Some with Trakka vans may find it interesting to visit and view the latest & greatest they presently have on offer. Then afterwards a syncro tagalong to ... well ... who knows! Who cares! The world is our oyster! Bring your CB radio so we all can communicate along the way.
Please advise.
Cheers.
Ken

Roger,
Camping in the carpark is quite doable ... been done before. If this suited you, then some other "Tassie" syncros may well be interested to also camp with you on the Saturday night.
From late Saturday through into Saturday night, it won't be a lonely place, there will be a hive of activity going on setting up the show.
Cheers.
Ken

Thanks
BenC

Could throw in some of the laminated pictures that Les prepared for theDay ofthe VW in Vic plus a computer slide presentation if people are likely to be interested.

Does he want it freighted at his cost? Could he be coming to the Nationals in Sydney; does anyone else want it?

Adding insult to injury, organisers have even fully offloaded ALL categories judging onto ALL entrants to the show. No time for a chat now lads. It's now work work work ... and for gratis! Please tell me this is just a bad dream I'm having!

As a consequence of this hapless show organisation ad nauseum yet again, I see no alternative other than for us to still attend the show but boycott ALL our T3 syncros from entering the show and shine competition, full stop! Instead, we should take this opportunity and be creative ... do our own thing at the show this year ... no exceptions please.

Makes it a whole lot easier to find each other, keep an eye on each others vehicles and simply pay the $10 entry fee per person to come and go in and out of the show as we each so choose to do. As well, anyone else at the show interested in talking syncros can simply visit our syncrofest muster. Too easy.
