WA Subi Conversion

Well the time has come. I've been a fan of the 2.1 litre VW engine for 12 years now and I still think the engine does well especially in the 2wd's, however recently I've been realising it's limits as we push it hard in our syncro.

In an order to try and make the syncro suit our changing requirements I'm going to pursue the EJ25 Subaru option.

It's been five years since I last saw a subaru in a T3, so before I start buying bits I was wondering if any Perth Members with Subi motors would let me have a look at their install, so I can get some of the issues straight in my mind. Anyone out there?

Craig

Hi Craig,

I have a EJ25 in my syncro. You are most welcomed to see my conversion. I will be in Melbourne until 24th March – contact me on 94467628 after that date.

Yurik,

Is there any chance that you can postpone your departure and join us at the Edinburgh Gardens on the 25th

This would be a very rare opportunity for the Melbourne members to see the 1990 Australian Safari winning vehicle.

It would also be a rare opportunity to see the beautifully engineered installation that you have done on the EJ 25.

There is another EJ25 in Perth.  I will dig out their contact details.

Les,

Joining you at the Edinburgh Gardens is very appealing and if we were in our syncro that would be a goer. We are visiting our daughter in Richmond and are travelling with JetStar this time.

A future trip could be on the cards and coinciding with a Melbourne meet would be great.

Andrew and Mel used to live in Perth and they have the same 2003 EJ25 as Yurik and I do in our Syncros.
Last I heard they were living in Albany but you won't go wrong using Yurik's as a vehicle on which to learn about doing your conversion.

Andy.
Should have flown Tiger, they would give it a try.

There was a good T3 Subi conversion story in an Australian VW magazine

The only real issue I see for you in Australia is cost of shipping parts from the US or wherever outside of Aus. ...., or sourcing good conversion parts there so your shipping cost isn't a big deal.
the conversion as been done many times and all the bits are readily available ..with choices from numerous vendors , etc.
It's a pretty standard deal, no real mysteries.
More a matter of how good to you want it, and what you are willing to spend.

Hi there. I have got an EJ22 in my 91 Syncro. Works great, pulls well, sounds good and is strong enough.

But i am in Alice SPrings, so a little far away to have a look at it ;-)

Good luck with the conversion
