Hey Nat,
Not quite what I’m after then. I think either the high top of ute tray style is what I might go for.
Thanks for contacting me
Hi @Nat I may actually be interested!
Would you be able to message me? I’d love some pics!
Cheers
Hi Scott,
Out of interest, what’s your opinion on the “subie powered Caravelle CL with Clk Merc forged alloy wheels”? Saw it on Gumtree and Facebook, not registered give years or so…
Thanks.
I actually love it!
My syncro was a Caravelle CL the same as this when imported and its still listed as an 8 seater on the rego papers and compliance plate. Things change, now its a 6 seater Caravelle GL with Subie EJ25 Frankie motor.
With this van for sale, to me its great and I have seen another one getting around years ago with the same engine setup - ie EJ20T with a supercharger replacing the turbo.
The installation seems great, yet its really hard for an engineer to provide a certification as it is such a hybrid motor running off a Microtech computer rather than a stock computer. The engineers dont like this as it takes away the original running systems of the factory computer.
I had this issue with my old motor which was an ER27 6cyl subie running a microtech computer. I tried getting it engineered and they wouldn’t unless I converted that engine to the factory computer (which was unobtainable at the time in Australia without buying an entire front cut from Japan).
So I decided to swap that engine for a more modern 4cyl EJ25 with factory computer. Engineers are much happier with that system.I think this is why it hasn’t sold. You most likely will need to swap the engine for something more common with factory computer. Or put a VW 2.1 back in there if you like going really slow.
Otherwise it looks like a bargain to me.
Thanks for the detailed reply.
I had been wondering why it hadn’t sold yet, and was worried that engineering was the issue.
A shame, because it otherwise ticks my boxes - but I’m not going to commit myself to an engine swap.
I would say many would have inquired but would have been scared off by the engine issues.
FWIW I enquired about the engine paperwork but it looks like it’s no longer listed.
On my Facebook feed on marketplace, its still listed as available.
Hi Nat,
Do you still have your Syncro for sale? I am in Manjimup and might be interested.
Cheers,
Andy
