Waterproofing the airbox

Hi all not up to it yet but of late i have been watching alot of
vids/movies with syncros and watercrossings, i am wondering is there a
need to waterproof the airbox intake or add a snorkel for such use?
I was thinking if the need be i would try to fit one up the internal
rear corner where air intake exists. Just keeps it neat and tidy and
makes sense to me.
Andrew
My '86 syncro already has a snorkel in the right rear corner. As far
as I recall, every syncro I've seen has a snorkel.
