Hi Hartmut, My syncro sits at around 80cms also with stock springs. Have read that the seikel springs only lift the car by 1cm over stock. I suppose the big difference is once it's loaded and I have a very empty ex-telstra syncro undergoing a camper conversion.

Thanks for offering a camp spot I would definately call in. Actually going to brisbane to have custom veedub fit a 2.5 subaru engine in my syncro. Had thought to do it myself but time is money and my syncro project although on track is rather enormous with a tight deadline.

Martin, The option of placing a spare wheel carrier on the front of a bullbar is appealing but as you say restricting airflow is an issue. I consider a bullbar a necessity when traveling through oz so It is something I've been searching for. Do you have an alloy bullbar and what is the impact on approach angle? erik

And for how long did you drive them? Seikel springs drastically
"shrink" down to disappointing dimensions once they got used for a
while in heavily loaded vehicles....

Erik,

I was looking at putting two on my T3 (non-syncro) and went a long way in planning (until I happened on an unwanted and unused tank for underneath the van.

At car parts places and boating places there are spare wheel carriers for boats wich include a stub axle and other gear. There are also Jerry can carriers. (I forget brands). These could VERY easily be combined to make a carrier. I had even lined up a guy to weld a tube to take the upper and lower bearings to take the stub-axle carrier on the bumper.

Email me personally and I'll send some picks of another fellow's setup.

Dave,

See also the information posted by Phill Lander re wheel carriers:

http://members.ozemail.com.au/~pjlander/tyre_carrier.htm

This is a well designed and sturdy wheel carrier.
