Where is the Engine Number on the T3 engine ?

Hi All,
something after all these years I have never needed to find till now.

Fifteen months ago I gave my T3 Type Carvelle to my youngest son.
He was in the ACT at the time so it has ACT plates.
He has subsequently moved to Victoria and has given it back
I now have to register it in NSW, and need a Blue Slip.

My Blue Slip inspector needs an engine number and the papers i have been given don’t have it on them.

So, where is the Engine Number on a 2.1 water cooled T3 engine ?

Bentley says: On the crank case below the breather and give us a tiny photo the features of which I cannot see.

So, facing into the engine bay from the rear.
Is it on the left side or the right hand side, or is it on the rear of the engine ?

Do I have to remove anything in order to make it visible ?

Help would be most appreciated.

Peter
Hi Peter,

As Bentley says - its just below the breather tower (Black plastic cylinder next to the alternator).

Can be viewed from the back of the van by just peering through the fan belt mess just under the alternator.

Im sure you will be able to find it - the engine number location is basically the same as my old 69 bay kombi 1600 type 1 motor.

Cheers,

Scott

Thanks Scott,
but so far have not viewed any numbers.
Have been using a small illuminated mirror on an extendable handle.
Will have another look tomorrow, but I’m reluctant to take the alternator off it’s mounts.

Hi Peter your photo was very useful, thank you.

I took a couple of my own which I’ll certainly put in my file.
