Year Eight!

It came as a bit of a surprise when I realized that the group is about to enter its eighth year.

This started from a newsletter that I began circulating in January 2004 and switched to the Yahoo group in August 2004.

The group has functioned very well over this time, notwithsanding a few rough patches.  Those patches were dealt with by the implementation of re-registration of all members in August 2009.  We now know who everyone is.  As I point out in the introductory literature sent to prospective members, it is much easier to give support when we know whom we are supporting!

I want to thank the members who have contributed so much expertise and advice over these many years; it is your contributions that have given this group its strength.

I wish eveyone well for 2011.

Les Harris

Well done Les and thanks again for keeping it running. The recent air con discussions are a good example of what priceless information can get shared with such a well informed group.

Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year.

I totally agree - well done Les - you are the Aussie Syncro God.

The group definitely gives me inspiration to get into little projects with my syncro.

Merry Christmas to all fellow syncro nutters and their families.

Cheers,

Skot & the boss & the kids.

Hi Les,
First i would like to wish You and Your Family a Blessed Christmas and a Safe,Healthy and Happy New Year.I take this opportunity to thank YOU for this fantastic site which helps ALL Syncro owners and it certainly was of great help to me whilst i had my Syncro. As you maybe aware Peter Wilson bought my Syncro with a little help from Ken Garratt.I am still trying to get over it and i dare say the scars will linger for a long long time to come.I do hope i can continue to be a member of this unique group and hope you don't mind.I do have a 2 WD Doka Twin Cab and that will remain with me till "Death Do Us Part"It is an Automatic,so the Missus can drive it too if she needs to.This is my way of justifying keeping it in addition to the 4 other vehicles we currently have.I need to get rid of the 1978 Beetle Cabrio so if you know of anyone who is interested let me know.
Thank You once again for your foresight in organising this Unique Site.
God Bless You with Good Health for the Future.
Sincerely,
Everard Hoffman
PS A Blessed & Safe Christmas and a Happy New Year to all Syncronauts

You've done us all a great service by setting up the group Les, and persevering through thick and thin. Thanks for your efforts, and here's wishing you a safe and happy Christmas. Roger.

Hi Les and all

Thank you Les for your stewardship over 8 years! An absolute achievement given this must be like 56 Internet Years! Without this group I would even own a Syncro - and the Syncro has added much enjoyment to the family life here, for Max particularly.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.

Here is a short video (on of my favourites) of the Syncro through a beautiful snowy scene in the UK. At Christmas we drive our Syncros through sand and bush - here is the opposite for the Northerners:

Mark, Deb, Max and Alexandra.

Hi all,

Yes, thanks Les for your founding inspiration and work over the years.

Happy New Year to you all. We'll keep an eye out for fellow Syncros on the road as we hop from Melbourne to Canberra, to Bundeena, to Sydney, to Batemans Bay and back to Melbourne.

See you,

Francesca.

Thanks Francesca for the good wishes --  same to you and your familie !

An interesting Syncro you have send us here, it could well have been a German import into the Uk . The G. Autobahn Admin. had R/H drives in use to lower the risk for the driver climbing in and out of the Vehicle. They also had the sliding door on the R/H side as the one you have send us.
I think Stevo Mueller has more on this , I believe he was involed with one coming into Oz.     All the very Best for 2011 !     Hartmut

Recent Activity:

Thanks Les for 8 years of list control.

Yes, I know Travails is a very silly play on words but it means "to engage in painful or laborious efforts", which seems to fit exactly the activities of your average Oka owner.

I discovered the above quote on an Oka Owners web-site. Thought that it describes Syncro ownership as well. So looks like we are not alone with the odd problem.............

    Happy New Year to all

    Bruce

PS We will all have to make a special effort for a 10 year get together !!!!!!!!!!!!
