You have to laugh

I would like to share a short story of syncro misadventure.
Broken down in the middle of nowhere ? Perhaps stuck in a sand dune ?
Blown a head gasket ?
No no no.
Had the old girl at the mechanics for a 10000 k service. The phone rings. "Your car's ready, there's a small problem. The handbrake came off and it rolled down the hill and smashed the building next door. Not much damage to the syncro but !"
With trepidation I made it to the mechanic to discover a very damaged brick building and a slightly bent roo bar and bumper frame on the syncro.
Moral of the story : make sure your mechanic is fully insured !
I should get a new roo bar and a bit of rust removal out of the incident. All in all a bit of a win :)

wow you are the "lucky" one. about 4 months ago my neighbours car rolled out of his driveway, he'd also left the hand brake off, it slammed into my 14" syncro caravelle, stoving in the front drivers corner, missing the drivers door, and caving in the drivers side middle panel, the B pillar is torn at the seam, the indicator is smashed, the vans a total mess.
my neighbour didnt say any thing, but i noticed VW red paint on the back of his dented car, he reluctantly agreed he'd "had a bump" but its only a ding right?? WRONG, the van had been pushed sideways over 2 feet!!
after being given the runaround for 3 months his mum gets involved and she calls his insurers, he lost the quotes i went and got, and the last i heard from his insurers was if i dont get my finger out they will reject the claim!
i had the patience of a saint over this, i understand the young idiot is inexperienced and may not be earning much, and i've given him the benefit of the doubt, i think i should have listened to the advice from my local VW club members and sued the ass off him. there wont be a next time, and theres still the chance i'll see the F-wit in court, he's had his chances and if the balif cleans him out its not my fault / problem!
one "good" crash one "bad" crash, alls well in the world of khama!!
cheers vwjon

Hi Jon,
That's surely the best (or worst) Syncro Misery Moment I've heard for some time. That's very bad luck and it must be a real trial for you. I hope you get some justice. Let us know the eventual outcome.
Francesca.
