Youtube video of my T3 Syncro at Fraser Island

It was a learning curve for me as it was my first real off-road adventure but we all survived unscathed! Hope you enjoy it.

As well as the link below I have loaded it in the Links section of the Syncro_T3_Australia site.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E20XDQiS8w&feature=youtu.be

Out of interest my rear diff-lock light would go on and off whilst I was driving so I assume it was engaging and dis-engaging, any thoughts as to why this would be?

Cheers

Peter

Peter,

Fantastic video and what appears to be a sensational trip.

From the video, your tyres look overly inflated - did you lower your tyre pressures?

Where abouts on the island were the areas that you and the 200 series landcruiser got stuck?

Thanks for posting as I am very keen to take my family around Fraser in my syncro. I did it many years ago in a Mitsubishi Express L300 4wd van (I couldn't afford a syncro at the time) and have done Moreton Island in the syncro yet not Fraser.

Fraser is just a magic place - yet apparently you cant camp at either Lake McKenzie or Central Station any more?

Cheers,

Skot

Fraser island is great. True syncro country. I did it in a little Suzuki about 13 years ago. You could not camp at lake McKenzie then, but what a magic spot for a swim. We drove off the ferry behind a troop of Landcruiser troop carriers, they instantly got bogged in the mud. The little suzi overtook them and  kept going(20psi tyre pressure). Also saw a pajero get its front suspension ripped out when braking going over a washout. The dingoes were annoying but the brumbys on the beach are a nice sight. Greg E

Hi Peter
Well, after watching the video and listening to that music I feel like I've been on a holiday. Great video work.

Hi Peter / Skott,

Well done, like it. the only problem would have been the tyres, down to 20psi and you go anywhere. The difflock coming in and out, was discussed here very recently. Possibly a leak in the system somewhere. Sometimes you can hear a hissing noise once you switch the engine off, or else you have to check the whole system incl.the little non return valve. See Bentley.

My Trakka will leave us on Saturday early heading for the Melbourne nest... bit sad really. I like to concentrate on the Tristar and like to fit it out  like the one
I 'm TRYING to attach. That one is a pure 16" I would say and it belongs to the German SES. Tried to find a NATO hardtop but with no success and if one would be available it would be on a DoKa and one would have to buy the lot. The plan is to produce drawings of the thing and have it made here by an aircraft builder in a/c material. So wish me luck anyway. For Tassi a tonneau cover must do. I will sleep inside the doka, at night we will all be in the Camel truck for beer !

Hart,

Shame about the Trakka yet at least it is going to someone who will love it and use it as intended.

The Tristar is a star and that canopy looks awesome. I am sure it could be built or something close to it.

Shame we couldnt catch up this year @ Port but time is always a problem.

The gun toting drug lord @ Hat Head had put a gate across that sensational 4wd track from Hat Head to Crescent Head and hence Ben and I could only do about half of it. A fun track though - lots of soft sand sections and steep hills with soft sand but with the tyres down to 15PSI and the diff-lock on - no problem. Ben didn't use his diff-lock and took him a while before he even used 4wd!

Catch up soon.

Cheers,

Skot

Hi Hart,

Have you seen this Doka camping conversion:

A possible modification to the Tristar for future camping trips?

See you Friday.

Jon.

P.S. Are you chaps in Melbourne the night before the Tassie sailing?
