ACT Syncro?

I've had my 2.2EJT for decade. Albeit in a non-Syncro.

Does anyone here think BMW builds decent cars? For example the twin turbo six. How about the new BMW hybrids?

Well, the guy who designed those engines was head of North America Powertrain division and now project manager for the hybrid division. He's job is to find or invent the best gadgets and powertrains for the vehicles BMW builds for the world market. Where am I going with this?

He is a personal friend and fellow Syncro enthusiast. When he decided to fix the deficiencies in the T3 Syncro design, he installed an RJES bellhousing and replaced the aging Wasserboxer with a 3.3 SVX engine.

To each his own. I have owned both stock and modified Syncros. It your goal is to keep your Syncro as collectible as possible, then IMHO you shouldn't remove the WBX-4, WBX-6, inline-4, or inline-5 that your T3 originally came with. However, if your goal is to get the maximum enjoyment of the Syncro platform, you may consider repowering. I am not a big fan on cross-species swaps (such as Subie to VW) preferring to stay all VW as much as possible. My Syncro 16 had a 1.6TD from the factory and now sports a 1.9TD. Little changes bigger power. Conversion easily reversible. Once I drive my little turbo Subie powered Vanagon at over 100mph with power to spare, I had to think twice.

I'd really like to try the Subaru diesel conversion.

This topic has become distorted and I am bringing it to an end.

Steve Muller is a trader member.  Steve has not proselytised his business beyond saying that he has something available (part or service) in direct response to a posted question.   Steve has not made claims about his parts or services.

I cannot see a logical basis for making comparisons between Steve’s business in Australia and similar businesses in other countries.  This website exists to furnish factual help to Syncro owners in Australia , not generate speculation via innuendo.

Hello Ken , not too sure how to take your comment of entrusting a motor to muller’s....do you know me !I am the eldest son from the family.....its comments like this that make me wonder if I should persist on this forum....I do not sell myself but offer freely knowledge gained from experience with dealing with syncro’s  for over 23years....... if I was across the street from you I would not know who you where !!!!! either I am reading too much into this....or just show some respect towards me and we will get on just fine

Yes!

I don't know Rocky. For all I know his engines could be crap or they could be OK. Do you know him?

Morning all.

I have had dealings with all the Muller boys and I found that at all times they will give advice and help freely regarding the problems with syncros,

It is up to the owner off the vehicle to make a decision of what course he decides to take from that.   bob

Robert,

This topic has been brought to a close.

I will not allow this group to meander away from its stated purpose; this group was established as a technical advice and support resource for Syncro owners in Australia .

This topic started off well within those boundaries but then drifted away into opinion and speculation.

I have had dealings with all the Muller boys and I found that at all times they will give advice and help freely regarding the problems with syncros,

It is up to the owner off the vehicle to make a decision of what course he decides to take from that.   bob

Robert,

This topic has been brought to a close.

I will not allow this group to meander away from its stated purpose; this group was established as a technical advice and support resource for Syncro owners in Australia.

This topic started off well within those boundaries but then drifted away into opinion and speculation.
