Caravelle Syncro on Carsales - $16500

Not often a Caravelle Syncro comes up - they endured a very high initial cost of almost $50K.

At Noosa Heads.

Regards
Mark.
There's not too many of those around! Even less in white.

Scott,

We bought our fist Synco in September 88  Empty , no arm rests but with rear windshield wiper  for $ 50 000,oo. At the same time we bought our first home in Oz for 130 000 at Bilgola Plateau.......

The house was sold 2 yrs ago for $ 1 050 000  a new Caravelle  sets you back a lousy  $ 60 000. 4 motion a bit more may be. My only regrets are that we did not sell the house at that price.

Believe me , I would LOVE to bring this  one home, what a bargain just , please, do look at the rear seats, wouldn’t you want to move the steering wheel to the rear???

With this one  I  would have to choose between it and my mate (ress)  of 52 yrs...... Some choice, that’s what life is..........Please anybody come up and do Point Plomer rd with me just to regain my sanity.

And final , Pete’ please don’t show this to my daughter/ your wife....                       Hartmut

Hart,

I know what you mean about Northern Beaches of Sydney real-estate. Those prices are why I live in Terrigal on the Central Coast.

My boss (I mean wife) grew up in Bilgola Plateau and it is a very nice place but the slow traffic in those bends is just too annoying.

It is a shame our Syncros don't increase in value to the same effect. Maybe they will one day!

Cheers,

Scott

Hartmut,

The missing VW badge on the rear door is a novel touch.

Also, for a caravelle ... no less ... how come it has no drivers side door pillar handle? Even my base model has one.

Also, take a close look at the front view. Is that a bad case of seam rust across the lower front panel? (in the usual place).

Not a camper. No poptop. Bar Humbug!

Hartmut, you don't need it!!!

Does that make you feel better now?

Cheers.

Pew, I  feel better now, the panic  handle I did not miss ‘cause Tristar hasn’t got one either! Also I don’t think it got 4 arm rests I can see two, but 4 are a must if one wants to give one’s spine a rest. Anyway  I  want to sell it to my son even rust is better then an ASTRA 2door, black.   Hart

And Ken, I  think it is evident that these Vehicles were very much handmade, they had an empty shelf for pillar handles...they put stoppers into the holes, they had not the full body kit available, they just mounted the side panels and not the front bumper....on mine..and so on, some vehicles did come with 2 courtesy light switches, others came with 1, the upholstery in Caravelles is far superior to what the Tristar has got and the list goes on. But they all had things in common like far too high voltage drop in Headlights as well as tail lights, too many hoses, just look at your extensive list, and by far the world record in zip ties. That is at least some thing !   Hartmut

mmmmmmm Hartmut   ..... so it was pot luck then eh the day they made mine .... at the time they must have found a few pillar handles and were out of rubber plugs? How lucky was I!! I still can't believe you haven't fitted a handle yet. I use mine EVERY time I get in, not sure I'd want to be without it, makes entry a lot simpler.

Talking about electrical, I'm ecstatic on one hand yet mystified on the other ..... following on from tearing the be-jesus out of my van looking for a dead short ..... and totally unsuccessful I thought .... well my very longstanding problem has miraculously disappeared ...... no more dead short symptoms! Go figure. Batteries now easily hold their charge, little if any depletion over days and the charger isn't constantly being activated to top up all the time as it used to. Total mystery fix. I'm not complaining.

We bought our fist Synco in September 88  Empty , no arm rests but with rear windshield wiper  for $ 50 000,oo. At the same time we bought our first home in Oz for 130 000 at Bilgola Plateau..... ..

Some choice, that’s what life is.......... Please anybody come up and do Point Plomer rd with me just to regain my sanity.

And final , Pete’ please don’t show this to my daughter/ your wife....                       Hartmut

Ah, that vehicle must have been to Melbourne at some stage. When VW became sponsors of the AFL (with their badge on the ball, no less), collecting those badges became a teenage pass-time. I certainly lost one from my old T3. Quite annoying, seeing I’m not even much of a fan of the footy.

Strange it has no driver's panic/grab handle - the last of the Caravelle's did, and they also had the larger electric side mirrors, which this one does not.

Ref the missing arm rests - good spotting! I am missing the two inner armrests, and looks like he is missing the outer armrests!

And agree - much better than a 2-door Aastra, reasons including not least of which - will depreciate much faster than a Syncro! (alas neither appreciates like a Northern Beaches house!
