Ladders tanks etc.

Richard,

Probably better to leave it with Peter then as he has some packaging left over.

Cheers,

Hi Scott,
I'll get it packed, but will need a day or two.

Thanks Peter,

No rush on my end, it will probably take me 12 months to fit the tank anyway :) (it will take me at least a month to work up the courage to drill a filler hole in the panel work, and another 2 mths to drill a hole in the outrigger!!)

Richard

Richard,

I have the same phobia of the cut - might have to get someone else to do it.

Its like getting a needle at the doctors - I have another phobia of that and pass out.

I would probably pass out while drilling the hole in the syncro.

Definitely need longer bolts for the base of the ladder - it just doesn't sit down well enough for the ones supplied to fit.

Cheers,

Skot

Just drill it.  It's worse to cut your guards in a brand new $60k Amarok. Lol

I have done it before, after 12mths restoring the T2 (ground up resto), It was a sad day I cut holes to mount a water tank and fuel tank (45L each). I still have the metal I cut from the panel, and still feel the pain of breaking through the paint work!

800km range it gave us was nice when out woop woop.

Richard

My ladder bolted up ok. After you hook the top in put some decent weight on the ladder ie hang off it. If you put long bolts in you will find excess length after you take up the slack.

Was speaking Peter re pick up of my tanks, it is possible that I could pick your tank.
I uncertain of dates at the moment but happy to transport tank if dates work out.

Can you also send me your bank details for the $105 owed.

Richard,
I've gone to a lot of trouble to pack your tank, and still have to box up the accessories,
but knowing trucking companies and their policy of:
"all care but no responsibility", "we are not common carriers",
it would be good if the three consignments to northern NSW and Qld, were picked up
rather than being trucked.

Suggest you talk among yourselves and see whether you can make a arrangement which satisfies each of you.

If you need them quickly, they can be picked up by Toll on Tuesday if you can make the arrangements with them.
Please ensure that they have my phone numbers so that the driver can call us if the gates are shut..

I had rug Qantas twice before showing up today and each time I asked them "do I need a broker" they said no both times. I turned up at Qantas freight and was sent to customs house at the airport to clear the freight. Customs explained that due to the fact that I did not own the items in the RSA and pack them and send them to myself I needed a broker to clear customs. I found a broker, he loved the kombi and was happy for a chat so I asked why did I need his service. He explained that after 9/11 the process was changed and what he does is checks for an x-ray of the goods on line. He then provides a certificate proving the goods have been through the necessary customs checks. He is licenced to do this by customs. So long story short I have the guys card, if we do this again we send him the details and he will do that certificate and send it to Qantas before we rock up.
So that's all the boring stuff taken care of. The tanks are amazing! Really beautiful build quality. The ladders and jerry can holders are super strong. I fitted my ladder, love it. The jerry holder bolts are missing off our order too. So Steve, Nick let me know when you want your goodies. Ph0409420164.

Thanks for the update Greg.

This is very annoying - we can all see now why we dont import anything - just too expensive.

Then if you on sold these items you would have to pay GST again.

It sucks.

Hi Scott,

They are not packed apart from the components kits for the tanks.
My concern would be how well they would travel, especially the tanks, by road freight, in an unpacked condition..

Thank you very much Peter,

Happy to work with the others that need to get parts north, just collecting from Sydney is not an option for me at the moment. That being said I am in no rush for the tank.

Just on the freight, I do not think Toll will collect from a residential address.

Richard

Great Richard.

But if we do have to ship by Toll, and Toll has picked up from here in the past,
we will give them my address as a legitimate business address.

When we moved out here, I was in the last stages of winding out of my business of thirty + years,
and I was having pickups and deliveries by a number of trucking companies almost daily.

This is still the registered office of our Company, so I'll give you the Company name for them to pick up from
and a director of the company will be present to hand your consignment over.

That aside, it would be better for the three of you if they don't have to go by transport company.

Peter

Hi Peter, hi Colin,

Thanks Peter, will do.

I also believe that Colin will be picking up Richard Bekker's tank as well.
Is this what has been arranged Colin ?

They are not causing me any inconvenience, but any idea when you will be down this way ?
We are here most of the time but it would be best if we knew in advance so that you were not inconvenienced.

Suggest that you bring some padding with you to prevent the tanks from moving about and rubbing against each other.

Hi Peter,

Apologies, I have been a little run off my feet of late and not followed this up. Yes, if some one is able to get my tank further north that would be excellent.

So yes, Colin if you are able to bring my tank up also that would be excellent (I think you are just south of the boarder?). If you send me your details, I can contact you also if required.

Peter (Schweinsberg), can you also confirm you received the funds in your account to cover the import fee's? I sent it a little while ago.

Thanks all,

Richard
