Hi folks,
I've uploaded photos of some SA long range aluminium tanks that look the real deal.. About $430 ea, and $230 for air freight to Perth.
Group purchase would bring down the price if anyone's interested.
43l per side with a range of ancillary fittings available.

Hi all
I'm Ian and I'm a Syncroholic! I've owned Syncro's in SA for about 10 years and have been part of the SA Yahoo group most of that time.
Just joined up here as Mark mentioned he'd posted regarding the tanks and it's probably easier if I'm here to answer any queries.
I'll just give a brief background and then feel free to fire away.
I'm a photographer and have done a lot of work over the years for a company called Hi Tech Automotive. They are the largest privately owned vehicle manufacturing facility in the world. It's a petrolhead heaven! They make the best Cobra replica's in the world, the only ones authorised by Carrol Shelby himself; GT40's from the original blueprints, the new AC Zagato and various other exotic machines. Anyway I have a very good relationship with the owner and his son and over the years, as a special favour, they have made a few things that I wanted for my Syncro. The tanks are one of these items. It's an updated version of the tanks that were first done in SA about 15 years ago but have been out of production for a long time. I made these available to the SA guys on our forum and then some of the Americans heard about them and we are now doing a batch for them as well. Mark then enquired about shipping to Australia and if we get a few orders together the shipping becomes viable. Air freight for 1 tank works out at $204 but for 2 tanks only $230. The more orders we get the more viable it becomes.
Also the tanks are 304 grade Stainless and not aluminium and are thus suitable for water or fuel. Hi Tech obviously has extensive experience in the design and manufacture of tanks like these and quality is what you would expect. They have 2 internal baffles to prevent sloshing and also to add structural strength.
Fitting is very straight forward and the average Syncro owner would be able to fit the tanks in a couple of hours. I've put together detailed installation instructions which Mark has already posted in the photo section under "long range tanks." This also includes a list of all the possible items neccesary for installation. You should be able to source these yourself, but all of them are available from me if you wish. I'll work out Australian pricing on these and post it shortly. I've tried to source these at the best prices possible and only put a small markup on it to cover my costs but you may be able to source some of these items locally for less.
Lets have a show of hands to see how many people are interested and I'll get a quote on the airfreight based on that.
Cheers
Ian
Hi All,
Just wanted to let the group know that my old man is selling his syncro.
He wants a bit more room for his proposed long travels away up north for
the winter to help improve his health during winter months. Actually he
wants a lot more room as he has bought a purpose built American Coach
which has everything.
Hence, the syncro will no longer be used.
This syncro has lived on the coast all its life yet it has also been
garaged all its life.
The specs:
Very late 1992 (purchased in 1993) model window transporter
Colour - white with the factory side decals
No diff locks
No Air conditioning
Has power steering fitted in the last 6 years as my dad was struggling
with the steering yet still has the big steering wheel.
Mileage: 148,000kms
New water pump fitted around 5 years ago.
Comes with rear tailgate custom made tent (that sleeves over the
tailgate and drops down the back and sides) which is awesome (as he made
me one too).
Long range fuel tank fitted (stainless steel) with the 2wd factory inlet.
T4 15 inch wheel with white band tyres with good tread - see photo attached
Custom large alloy white powder-coated bull-bar with custom insect and
rock screen.
Very straight and all original.
Has a CD stereo and front door mounted speakers.
Interior panels were all still in good condition and it has a bed in the
back but no seat (just a 2 seater). Has curtains fitted.
Attached is a photo (the only one I can find at the moment.
I will get my dad to take some more photos or bring the syncro up to
Terrigal so I can take some photos.
He thinks $10,000.00 is a fair price which I tend to agree with.
Any interest my dad's mobile is 0403 939 893.
Cheers,
Skot
