Looking for a Syncro camper or DOKA

Hello
My name is Dieter Tietz and I live in Canberra, ACT. This is my first post and not sure of correct protocols, etc so I apologise in advance. I am a new member to the group which I joined in order to help expand my knowledge of the Syncro as well as hoping the group could assist me in looking for one to buy. I keep a regular eye on the usual spots such as ebay, carsales and Gumtree but as yet have not had much success. Also, the group might be aware of which vehicles I need to avoid for one reason or another.

A recent email indicates a Steve Muller might have both a camper and DOKA for sale. Can someone assist me in getting in contact with him?

Thank you

Dieter
Steve is a trader and a good guy to deal with. His mobile number is on his web site.

Thank you for the info Hartmut. I rang Steve Muller and he has a syncro camper. I'm waiting to hear back from him. In the meantime, this was posted on the Kombi Club Forum -

"Can anyone help....
We have an 89 one owner trakka syncro with only 122000km....full camper aircon captians chairs all orig no accident damage orig paint, no rust all log books etc.... time to sell...
whats it worth
Thanks Trent"

I have no realistic idea of what it's worth. Does anyone here know of this vehicle (I think it's in Sydney) and would you like to offer an opinion, either high or low, of what it might be worth. I'm aware of the difficulty in doing this 'sight unseen' but as I am pretty much out of my depth here, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dieter

Dieter,

An original Trakka with 122,000 will fetch a good price.  Prices vary up and down but it would probably go for $15,000+.  If you can find the location, it might be possible for one of our members to do am initial appraisal.  I am curious about the “full camper aircon” – haven’t heard the term before.

For a trakka syncro with very low kms like that should get around $20K I would have thought easily if the condition reflect the mileage.

Thanks for the quick responses Les and Scott.  At least I have a realistic figure now as before I was nonethewiser.   "…full camper aircon…"  I'm guessing a typo and there should be a comma after the word camper.,, then aircon, etc.

Dieter,

Not sure about that.  If it is a Trakka ‘full camper’, this usually means the Trakka full length pop top.  If this is so, then it won’t have original the VAG aircon but could have an aftermarket aircon, which is in-dash, as many of ours have.

Hallo Dieter,
Am Sonntag haben wir die VW Nationals,   Why don,'t you saddle your horse and come up
You can look at a dozen different ones. Mine I bought not long ago , unseen, with 245 T km
For 16 T . It is a nice Syncro , diff lock hot/cold water and all sorts of annexes. It is a Trakka ,
Which sleeps 2in great comfort.
There are endless possibilities, our member Bill had one 4sale , very nice unit, but no high
roof, I believe he had 12 T on it ,however it is no longer for sale, I believe, but could be wrong.
So why not come up to SYD on Sunday and say hallo.... You will meet fantastic VW enthusiasts.
The show is held at Fairfield , let us know if you need instructions how to find us..

Dieter,

You will acquire the most amount of knowledge in the shortest possible time if you follow Hartmut’s advice.   There’s no substitute for talking to owners and looking at their vehicles on the spot.

Scott,
Maybe you should suggest to Trent via Kombi Club Forum that he bring the Trakka to the Nationals, he may get lucky.

I bought my Syncro camper in the ACT and had to do the $600 Engineers certificate plus a lot of extra hastles to transfer rego to NSW. I often see VW T3`s and Syncros for sale on the internet in ACT that go undetected. In saying that Dieter have a look around your home state in your search

Believe me, I am looking here in the ACT but not much has come up in the last 6 months.  I am aware the Nationals are on thsi weekend however other commitments are stopping me from attending.  I am still trying to get around this but not likely.

Thanks for the quick responses Les and Scott.  At least I have a realistic figure now as before I was nonethewiser.   "…full camper aircon…"  I'm guessing a typo and there should be a comma after the word camper.,, then aircon, etc.

For a Trakka Syncro with very low kms like that should get around $20K I would have thought easily if the condition reflect the mileage.
