Mick Motors in Brisbane have an add in the latest VMA and they say they have Mefro wheels, 15's and 16 inch. The website I don't think has them on it but it does have the contact details.

Wheels obviously aren't the cheepest items to freight from overseas but US and UK prices are about half what Mick Motors are charging for these, so I think there'd still be significant savings to make.

Once quantities and packaging details are set,
I'd be happy to talk to my shipping agent to get a prices for that.
An extra cost could be disbursement,
that is distributing the consignment to each of the owners.

I've just put Val and myself down for one set of 6 Mefro wheels @ 15".

Thanks for the info Francesca.
If we have enough people interested I will contact Syncro Services first. How did you manage shipping the tyres to respective states once in the country?
For anyone else interested I have set up a Google spreadsheet. This contains the names of those who have already shown interest. Seems like 5 sets would be a good starting point so only need a couple more people.
Anyone else interested please update the following:

We were fortunate that one of the members who was part of the group buy (are you still out there, Gary?) owns a warehouse in central Melbourne. He was kind enough to allow some people to store their rims there until they could arrange collection. Having said that, three of the purchasers were in Melbourne, and the others were all on the east coast. From memory, a couple of people combined to shift their rims further north from Gary's (NSW). Of course it would be a different story if you had people in WA interested too.

My place is capable of taking very large non articulated delivery trucks and has a fork lift if needed.
I am also retired so at home most of the time, but will be overseas October 13 to November 4.
All four of us so far on the list have nominated Sydney, so my place is a possible destination.
I live in Castlereagh, a suburb between Penrith and Richmond.
Let me know if this can work out for everyone.

Hi Francesca,
Do these tyres fit in the stock spare location at the front of the van? Are they these:
Firestone Destination A/T (205/75R15 LT) (http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/treads/destination_at.aspx)
I have contacted Syncro Services and are waiting to hear back from them.

but the statement of the seller:
"Kombis are not very good at 4 wheel driving."
took me aback.
He probably did not have diff locks or a decoupler.
Perhaps his silicone viscous coupling was worn out.
Perhaps his wife was risk averse on anything other than a formed dirt road.
Sure we do not have the ramp angles or the clearance of a Land Rover,
but there is not much that I have not taken on.
I've been bogged three times,
once in soft Fraser Island sand while driving without a diff lock on,
I'd pulled off the road to let someone pass from the other direction and had forgotten to diff lock before doing it,
once when I was unaware that I'd worn out the original viscous coupling,
and once in deep colloidal clay with road tyres.
We don't go where those specials,
specially built for climbing over huge boulders and up vertical cliffs go for competition,
but we can go lots of places many of the popular 4WDs cannot go.

Hi Francesca,
Do these tyres fit in the stock spare location at the front of the van? Are they these:
Firestone Destination A/T (205/75R15 LT) (http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/treads/destination_at.aspx)
I have contacted Syncro Services and are waiting to hear back from them.

You could be right.
I remember visiting a client in one of my two wheel drive T3s.
This client lived in a fabulously located house on top of a hill at Palm Beach.
To get there you had to drive up a narrow, steep, sealed driveway, which was wet and covered with green slime.
I ended up leaving the van in the street and walking up.
Too much wheel spin.
