Hi Folks,

Just to let you know, I finally have a delivery date for my new T5 Trakkadu.  I fly to Sydney next Tuesday (8th), and will collect it in the early afternoon. After handover etc., I expect to be away by about 4pm, and will overnight somewhere around Goulburn, before making my way to Wodonga on Wed. for registration. Unfortunately, I won’t have much spare time in Sydney , but any-one around the Mt Kurangai area on Tuesday pm is welcome to drop in to Trakka while I’m there.

The T3 is still going strong, and hasn’t chucked any jealous ‘wobbly fits’ yet.  Still on the market (see drive.com) but price will be fairly firm, at least until I see how well I like the new one (OK Rick?)

By the way, in case you haven’t seen this, looks like Seikel have gone one step further with the off-road pack. (From the Brickyard;-  http://www.seikel.de/de/4x4_show.php?info=download )

Ken,

1.  Brian still owns a T3 Syncro
2.  I would not exclude an ex-Syncro owner
3.  He has managed to come to most of the VW gatherings (in Vic)
4.  He is an all-round good bloke
5.  I think that he has the track record to stay on the list.

Hi all,

End January begin February three French syncronauts participated with an orange syncro in the first historic rallye côte-côte, from Ivory Coast in Africa to the Côte d’Azur in France . To participate the cars had to be 20 years or older.

Although at the start the other participants made some jokes about a T3 bus participating, the Syncro ended third.

I made a clip of the images I got from one of the French guys who participated, Christophe Lacroix.

The clip is on my homepage. Enjoy J

For those who read several Syncro yahoo lists : sorry for the cross post.

Righto Cheers Les.
Nice shot.

I’ve taken Ken’s comments as ‘tongue in cheek’. I’m sure that’s how they were meant. People at the Syncro Tour were keen for me to bring the T5 next time, but I might baulk at the scratchiest tracks. We’ll see what 400Nm can do up the hills. On the other hand there hasn’t been a lot of interest in the T3 yet (not that I’ve been pushing it hard) so I might be bringing that for ‘special events’.

All wheel drive Transporters are not so thick on the ground. I don’t reckon we should exclude any-one from our few events, even if T4’s and T5’s were to be ‘by invitation’.

Gday Bryan and ALL,

Tongue in cheek you say? Well I'm glad at least one person got that
right .... what the heck were the rest thinking?

Jeez Bryan, I must have been on a different Tour. I seem to recall there
were pained expressions on our faces (around the campfire) when we first
heard of your intended marriage to a T5. Pretty sure there was a
unanimous vote (being the centre of attention you didn't qualify for a
vote!) that you keep the T3 for its collectibility and bring it along
next time.

Personally I would just lurv to see you again in the T3 .... I wanna
hear that superb purring WBXer at least one more time!

As for T4 and T5 ... sorry, to be serious now, I have no affinity
whatsover with these pseudo VW's, I guess I'm one of the diehards who
say VW lost the plot when they betrayed the heritage and shifted the
motor away from the back, amongst other things.

So Les, do what you do best please and lay down the law ... last time I
looked, this forum is clearly named Syncro T3, very much in keeping with
the mission statement.

A glaring case of "off topic"?

Ken

Hi andrew,

Looked it up on the site cote-cote , these are the cars that made the full 7000 and somewhat kilometres. Strange : the Syncro was 4th instead of third like I was told. Anyway, still very good if you see he has beaten 9 “big” 4x4’s : Toyota , land rover and a Nissan patrol.

Looks like a very nice rallye anyway. It was the first time it was organised and the second edition is already planned. Hope it will grow without becoming a monster rallye like the Dakar of course.

Bugger thats a little dissapointing that a toyota was in front, but
then again these are heavy duty 4wd's, as are the three in front. If
it were paris dakar style then it may have an advantage, especially
when limited to unmodified vehicles 20yrs or older. So long as this
was a requirement then i think it could become something BIG..

Apart from the few "yuppie" drivers that just buy a car..

Andrew,

What the heck are you on about?

I have to say here and now how gobsmacked I so often am at how people on
this forum so often either misconstrue content proffered and more
particularly, fail to get the drift of what is being said, particularly
where its said in a lighthearted manner.

So let me spell it out for you. The only ones who have demonstrated an
understanding and recognised the humour proffered on this topic is quite
plainly Brian and I. As I said before and I repeat, what the heck were
the rest thinking?

So please don't come back at me complaining about a perceived lack of
humour on my part. Instead, please look a little closer to home.

Ken
