Hi Mark,

Where do you camp at Old Bar? There isn't much info on their festival web pages.

Cheers Murray

We have a member, Mark Thornley, who is driving his Syncro from UK to Australia via most of Asia .

He is currently in China and is keeping a log of his progress, which can be followed on;

http://www.overlandtoaus.blogspot.com

Mark apologises for not posting earlier but, in the last minute rush to get away, he didn’t record his Yahoo password for the group and hasn’t been able to log on.  I will generate another password for him and he should then be able to log on whenever he can get Internet connection.

I am sure that messages of encouragement would be well received.

Les

Sorry, I get too many emails to keep track of things sometimes.

Mark is driving a T25, not a Syncro.

Thanks Les for sending the link. I could have sworn they had a syncro when he first contacted the group.

I've just read through it all, amazingly little vehicle trouble really (apart from the beetle obviously). I hope the van holds together for them.

Ralph,

Don’t think so.  I have been through the text and the pics and it seems to be the 2WD.  There’s no mention of ‘Syncro’ in the text and the pics, mainly from the LH side, don’t help but the pic you forwarded doesn’t show the filler recess behind the RH rear wheel.  I will put the question to him.

Ralph,

All Syncros, both LHD and RHD, have the filler on the RH side behind the rear wheel, and I think the same applies to the 2WD – on the RH side behind the driver’s door regardless of whether it is RHD or LHD.    Someone will soon tell me if I am wrong.

Hi Murray

Great to hear - are you camping at the Caravan Park at the Airstrip there?

Hart and I have worked out a nice route as well for Saturday afternoon.

Once Hart confirms that what I have mapped in Google Maps is correct then I'll post here for the others who will hopefully join us.

Regards
Mark.

Hi Mark,

I’ve been tossing up between going to Old Bar, or the Warwick VW Drags with my VWCV mates, but I think Old Bar is winning. Can you let me know which nights you’ll be staying at the Caravan Park there (and site numbers as well if possible, so I can try to book nearby). Looking forward to the Saturday tour. I hope there aren’t too many berms for a T5.

Any other Victorians up for it?

We are there Friday & Saturday & Sunday night. I'm not sure what site numbers we have or Murray has. Not sure if Murray is Fri night as well, or just Saturday / Sunday night.

Maybe book in at least, and then maybe once we have a number of people confirmed they may be able to co-locate us.

RE: [Syncro_T3_Australia] Old Bar

Hi Brian, Hart and Mark,

No, I don't know about sites either. We may end up having a couple of non-vw owning friends camping as well which might complicate things site-wise, but at this point this is not confirmed. I will ask the owners what site number we have via email.

Should we now take this logistical conversation off list? I'm sure anyone else who decide to come can draw our attention to their plans and join the off-list discussion.

Kind Regards
Murray

Good idea ref the conversation off list, however, I think having it on list has helped Brian decide to join us at Old Bar!

Martin? you joining us from Berlin? Can't let Brian be the furthest traveller!

Murray

Hi Brian

We are there Friday & Saturday & Sunday night. I'm not sure what site
numbers we have or Murray has. Not sure if Murray is Fri night as well, or
just Saturday / Sunday night.

Maybe book in at least, and then maybe once we have a number of people
confirmed they may be able to co-locate us.

Hart - are you going to stay overnight with us as well?

Regards
Mark.

Murray,

Keep it on-list.  This is a valid group activity and it might encourage a few more to join you.

Hi Mark,

Just booked. You’re apparently on site 11. They said there were no powered sites left close to you, but an unpowered area ‘just over the road’ nearby, so that’s what I’ve booked. I’m expecting to leave Melbourne Thursday evening, stay overnight somewhere like Jugiong, near Yass, and arrive at Old Bar Friday afternoon/evening.

Any other Victorians up for it?

Hi Murray

Great to hear - are you camping at the Caravan Park at the Airstrip there?

Hart and I have worked out a nice route as well for Saturday afternoon.

Once Hart confirms that what I have mapped in Google Maps is correct then I'll post here for the others who will hopefully join us.
