Old Bar

Hi Brian

That's great news (not about Site 11, but that you're coming).

Maybe Les would like to join you for a Road Trip? (Les, nudge nudge)

Regards
Mark.

We are there Friday & Saturday & Sunday night. I'm not sure what site numbers we have or Murray has. Not sure if Murray is Fri night as well, or just Saturday / Sunday night.

Maybe book in at least, and then maybe once we have a number of people confirmed they may be able to co-locate us.

Hart - are you going to stay overnight with us as well?

We would like to attend this one too, especially if there is offroading to be had, could you please confirm the details of the caravan park for me?

Hi Neil,

It would be good to see you there. This is the caravan park (from Mark’s earlier post) http://www.lanis. com.au/OLD% 20BAR%20SITE/ frameset% 20LOTB.htm . You also need to register for the Kombi ‘World Record Attempt’ on the Sunday ($10.00). The form is available from www.oldbarbeachfestival.com.au . They ask for a bank cheque/money order for payment!!? Very old school.

Hi Mark,  the route as you sent it to me is correct, but if time permits we should include the ELLENBOROUGH FALLS quite remarkable indeed. But we go with the flow, we can cut out the appendices towards Comboyne, not  much to see there except for the UDDER COW CAFE.

Let me stress that we are not offroading , but going on poor to very poor country roads, in parts very scenic.

I will arrive Friday, and presently trying to get Camp spot       Hartmut

I agree.

There was a few stray T3 syncros there last year too.

We are staying @ Manning Point caravan park in a cabin as we are still chasing the roof boards from the DFT (supposed to be done shortly) and the local caravan parks cabins were all gone.

Apparently the Owner of the local caravan park is a bit of a Nazi everyone said so be careful. Apparently he doesn't like kombis?

We are only staying Saturday and Sunday nights.

Catch you up there.

Cheers,

Scott

I noticed last year they just marshal you at the order you enter (note where ever you want to park) so we will need to organise a possie in the outer car park just prior to the entry gate.

Maybe a 10:30am meeting prior to entry?

You can pay when you enter there is no need to pre-pay your record attempt fee.

Hi Scott

Yes - we just paid at the gate a couple of years ago.

Yes, mid-morning on the Sunday sounds more than reasonable, although there are other groups also trying to be grouped together of course. We snared a spot under one of the few trees, on the basis of having an infant (Max was only 3 months old).

I assume you'll be right for our Saturday afternoon drive?

Depends if we get there in time. Getting the boss and kids into the car and moving is difficult and we are not able to leave until Saturday morning.

If we make it where are we meeting and where is the drive to?

For all you folk travelling to Old Bar via Ellenborough Falls which are terrific, make sure you stop off at Blue Poles Art Gallery Cafe near Comboyne. Great food, great art, good coffee, fantastic ambience. Well worth the stop.Thoroughly recommend it. I agree, the country and the back roads although rough, are far better than travelling along the Pacific Hwy .

Just booked. You’re apparently on site 11. They said there were no powered sites left close to you, but an unpowered area ‘just over the road’ nearby, so that’s what I’ve booked. Hi Scott

The drive is a local scenic - around 3 hours perhaps - leaving around 1pm ish from Old Bar, so you could meet us in Taree. See link below.

We've had a good suggestion about a stop at the Blue Poles Cafe as well. - www.bluepoles.com.au - Hart is possibly familiar with this cafe as well.

Thanks Mark,

If we can make it by then with 2 screaming kids we are doing well. I might see if we can get away early enough to drop them off at the camp ground with the Boss to deal with and I'll venture off on my own.

Depends on Saturday morning departure time and traffic/ roadworks.

The drive is a local scenic - around 3 hours perhaps - leaving around 1pm ish from Old Bar, so you could meet us in Taree. See link below.

We've had a good suggestion about a stop at the Blue Poles Cafe as well. - www.bluepoles. com.au - Hart is possibly familiar with this cafe as well.

Yes, for us the drive will be governed  the time and manner of our arrival – given we’re leaving early Saturday morning. I think the chances of the family wanting to spend another 3 hours in the van on the Saturday might be slim (despite the drive sounding wonderful). However, I may do as Scott has described and do a camp-ground drop-off. We’ll see what transpires.

Cheers Murray

Guys - we could consider doing the drive on the Sunday perhaps - agree that kids won't want to be in the car for so long.

Matter of timing for the Kombi Day on Sunday I guess - can we leave there at say 1:30pm or 2pm and head off for the drive? Dark I guess by 6pm.

Hi Mark,  Blue Poles Cafe , no we can’t fit that one in, it would add 2 hrs to our schedule, and pos. More if we wait for food. As I mentioned, there is a Cafe at Elands where we could stop and refuel(ourselves).     Hartmut

You can pay when you enter there is no need to pre-pay your record attempt fee.

Remember they want as many kombis as they can so they cant be too harsh on pre-registration.

Lets confirm this closer to the date so we don't forget.

Cheers,

Scott

Hi Scott

Great news you are coming - a posse indeed.

we'll make sure we park upwind of the park Nazi!

Thanks Mark,

I have just worked out how to get the posts to come direct to my email - I have been trying to do that for years now since I started my own business and changed my email address. I am hopeless @ logging on so this makes it much easier.

I noticed last year they just marshal you at the order you enter (note where ever you want to park) so we will need to organise a possie in the outer car park just prior to the entry gate.

Maybe a 10:30am meeting prior to entry?
