Re: [Syncro_T3_Australia] Australia Trip [2 Attachments]

Hi All,

I brought my syncro after selling a Toyota Echo which was cheap
No frills reliable a-b transport. The logical decision was to keep that car
And have more money in the bank, fuel savings etc.

No regrets buying my Syncro. Yes more expensive but I was just so bored in that car. -Toyota.
I sit up high above the traffic. When I drive my kombi I slow down and escape the rat race.
They get out of the way or go around! I feel safer and besides

I missed the room and versatility of my T2 kombi. I wanted a 4wd. I started looking at
The t3 on the net and fell in love with the shape. I wanted something to fit my 9ft longboard in.
I wanted a car to go caming in and take small adventures in. It became an obsession.

I looked for months before I brought mine.

Prior to the Toyota I had a Type3 wagon. Cool car but just not the same following or community that
the Syncro has online. I like the fact that people do weird and wonderful things with/to these vans.
It find it interesting..

I have enjoyed the process of making my van fit my requirements!
For me these vans are a unique piece of motoring history. A work of art.
A Swiss Army knife vehicle which serves many purposes.

Emotive yes, practical yes, fun yes, cheap no!

Remember the saying - No great dreams were ever built on a budget!

On the contrary..
I brought my T2 for $4000 in 1999 sold in 2009 for $9000
In 10 years I expect/ hope my Syncro will also appreciate similarly..

Regards,

Rowan

Harmut,
with regard to the parts, thank you for the offer. No there is not anything
specific I am chasing, it's more that you can't drive down the road and buy any
part you need from the dealer. Instead we need
to rely on specialty shops that try to source suitable parts to keep the Syncro
alive, but buyer beware when it comes to where they sourced the parts and how
long they take to bring in.
All which again pushes up the cost.

Yes, great work Les, has already been a big help to me :)
