Les,the page number in the VAG T25 manual is page 10 of the gearbox section, tittled Gearbox layout. There is a diagram(similar to the switch panel in my dash, but more specific).
Designation #6 is the decoupler,named the 4wd shift element,with a subtitle,Only on vehicles with selectable 4wd.
Page 12 instructs you on proper towng procederes and performance testing on both permant and selectable 4wd vehicles.
Page 27 also has the title, controls, housing and describes seleactable 4wd,but I cannot find the diagram. This is as far as I have read.I hope this doesnt confuse the issue anymore.

Ben,

If you are referring to what we loosely refer to as Bentleys, the gearbox and driveline has 5 repair groups but it looks like your are referring to a different manual.  What I need is the full title and the VAG publication number.

I think that Ben is talking about the genuine VAG manual. Didn't I photocopy that one for you Les?

The disk should arrive at your address next week and you will see many references to the decoupler and they are all official VAG publications.

I optioned mudflaps and a tacho on my syncro and they are not listed in the brochures.

I did not know about it. I also could have optioned 16".

You have every thing under the sun on yours. You would of bought it for sure.

No, both of my cars are full time 4WD.

I would prefer the permanent 4WD.
In 88,at the Nationals,Hawksbury,Easter,in the rain,12 years old, in the back of a dualcab(i think)in a paddock, with grin from ear to ear,I certainly didnt ask the question.I went on a couple of rides that day, should of spoke up!

I was one of the early researchers. Steve and Adrian Muller worked with me to order in bits from Germany. I was one of the first to get the belt protectors, CV protectors, 16" wheel arch moulds.

Steve knew about the tacho and the grab handle option.

I may have known about it as I think it was on the VAG promo video. I wouldn't have wanted it then. At that time Australia probably never had a VC failure.

Phill,

Can you please give me the publication number of the manual that Ben is referring to.  Without that, I just don’t know what I am looking for.

I am in the process of listing what I have (both hard copy and electronic) in response to your earlier request for such information from members.  I am still checking to see if I have anything else hidden away.

Les

I think that Ben is talking about the genuine VAG manual. Didn't I photocopy that one for you Les?

The disk should arrive at your address next week and you will see many references to the decoupler and they are all official VAG publications.

I optioned mudflaps and a tacho on my syncro and they are not listed in the brochures.
