Syncro Photos - www.syncro.com.au

Fellow Aussie Syncronauts

Whilst the Yahoo group is great for discussion, it often doesn't serve well for photos.

To solve, Les and I have worked on created a new website upon which to place the best Australian Syncro photos.

The website will, over time, contain some specific Syncro resources, and ultimately details of how to join the Yahoo Syncro Group. It will be easier to hand out the www.syncro.com.au address, rather than the http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Syncro_T3_Australia/ address

We need your help to place resources online specific to Australia, including:

- great Aussie Syncro photos
- campsites
- Brochures / Articles of interest
- Aussie Syncro videos
- anything you think may be of interest to Syncro owners and enthusiasts (future enthusiasts)

Not everything is up there yet as we need both (a) more time and (b) submissions and ideas from this group. However, we've placed online now due to requests to look at the photos of the 2 16" Syncros in Melbourne. I thought I'd also get some other content up for inspiration.

Feedback welcome

Regards
Mark & Les.

Michael,

The usual answer by way of a question to your photo viewing issue is
...... are you trying to view the photos attached to posts on the syncro
forum website? If so then no ...... no one can view them that way. You
can only view/download/save these attached photos from your own email
facility, be it at hotmail, gmail, yahoo or whatever you normally use.
Of course the syncro posts and any attachments can only end up in your
own email facility if you have first elected to have these posts sent to
your own email facility .... you nominate to do that in the yahoo forum
preferences for your membership.

Now if that isn't your problem ........ then no ... I have no other
ideas ........ is this some weird Mac issue?

Cheers.

Thanks for taking this on. The website looks great.

I'd like to add an article from the New York Times I came across a
while back. It's not recent, and some of you may have already seen it,
but it might be of interest to some.

Cheers,

Francesca.

Hi Francesca

Great Article.

I've created an articles page - needs more refinement but your link is there

Should you send any more photos from Tony, please increase the resolution to around 1024 at least.

Regards
Mark.

Gday Mark, Les and ALL,

Great initiative, particularly if it is predominantly aussie flavoured,
thereby distinctive from all other syncro forums. Also, no need to
replicate the extensive syncro knowledge base available elsewhere. Mind
you, an extensive ready reference "links" file to the best of that
knowledge base would be fabulous for present syncro owners dealing with
a particular issue (often daily) and to attract new owners as they come
along seeking answers. Sort of a one stop links directory.

My main concern would be ... having created a privately operated aussie
syncro website over time at some considerable effort and expense by
owners and contributors, the risk of it being lost prematurely due to
owners changed circumstances. As you well know, the hard drive on the
server merely has to be suddenly NLA and that leaves an enormous gap
facing dedicated aussie and other syncro enthusiasts.

I'm no IT expert but yes, if you are looking long term, a fabulous
aussie initiative, thumbs up from me.

Cheers.
Ken

Great work!

How about the Australian Safari video?

How about a links page to sensible syncro technical articles?

RE: [Syncro_T3_Australia] Syncro Photos - www.syncro.com.au

Thanks Mark and Les, well done with this new site, it really is a pleasing to the eye and will be a great resource. One observation/question; can the links be organised to open into a new tab for easier navigation back?

Thanks again,

Murray

Fellow Aussie Syncronauts

Whilst the Yahoo group is great for discussion, it often doesn't serve well
for photos.

To solve, Les and I have worked on created a new website upon which to place
the best Australian Syncro photos.

The website will, over time, contain some specific Syncro resources, and
ultimately details of how to join the Yahoo Syncro Group. It will be easier
to hand out the www.syncro.com.au  address, rather than the
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Syncro_T3_Australia/ address

We need your help to place resources online specific to Australia,
including:

- great Aussie Syncro photos
- campsites
- Brochures / Articles of interest
- Aussie Syncro videos
- anything you think may be of interest to Syncro owners and enthusiasts
(future enthusiasts)

Not everything is up there yet as we need both (a) more time and (b)
submissions and ideas from this group. However, we've placed online now due
to requests to look at the photos of the 2 16" Syncros in Melbourne. I
thought I'd also get some other content up for inspiration.

Feedback welcome

Regards
Mark & Les.

Yes, I agree that it would be good to keep a local focus in the
content and it makes sense to avoid duplicating information found
elsewhere. This doesn't mean that we can't be generous in supplying
links to useful information, of course.

Francesca.

PS: I could help out with copy editing for the site should anyone wish
for help in that regard.

How about everyone harrass Steve Muller for the history of syncros in Australia. He has a lot of details and has sold more privately owned syncros than anyone else in Australia. He would know a lot more about the early Ateco (single headlight) ones than anyone.

He can be emailed at;

Hi Murray

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, links can be advised to open in new windows, which will trigger a new tab for tabbed browsers.

I will set up the Gallery pages to open in new windows.

Regards
Mark.

Thanks Mark and Les, well done with this new site, it really is a pleasing to the eye and will be a great resource. One observation/question; can the links be organised to open into a new tab for easier navigation back?

Thanks again,

Subject: [Syncro_T3_Australia] Syncro Photos - www.syncro.com.au

Fellow Aussie Syncronauts

Whilst the Yahoo group is great for discussion, it often doesn't serve well
for photos.

To solve, Les and I have worked on created a new website upon which to place
the best Australian Syncro photos.

The website will, over time, contain some specific Syncro resources, and
ultimately details of how to join the Yahoo Syncro Group. It will be easier
to hand out the www.syncro.com.au address, rather than the
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Syncro_T3_Australia/ address

We need your help to place resources online specific to Australia,
including:

- great Aussie Syncro photos
- campsites
- Brochures / Articles of interest
- Aussie Syncro videos
- anything you think may be of interest to Syncro owners and enthusiasts
(future enthusiasts)

Not everything is up there yet as we need both (a) more time and (b)
submissions and ideas from this group. However, we've placed online now due
to requests to look at the photos of the 2 16" Syncros in Melbourne. I
thought I'd also get some other content up for inspiration.

Feedback welcome

Regards
Mark & Les.

Hi Phil

This is a terrific idea and would be really really interesting and worthwhile to capture this history.

as you know Steve - do you think it would be possible for you to ask Steve to do this?

Alternately, perhaps if he is at the Nationals, we could ask him to go on camera talking about the Syncro history and we'll post the video?

Regards
Mark.

Hi Phil

I've created a links page - can you please send me some links to sensible Syncro technical articles

Also, I have the video (thanks to you) - needs to be converted for web use from the DVD. Before I start to do this, has anyone else done this before? Eg, converted to .mov, or .wmv etc?

Thanks
Mark.

Hi Francesca

Yes - the purpose, in my opinion, is to keep the focus local, with perhaps the exception of providing either some airtime for really really good international items on the site, and simply 'back links' to generally good international content.

If you are able to help with copy editing / articles / image management that would be much appreciated.

Let me know when you have for your first item ready to go and email me at markkofahl@gmail.com

Thanks
Mark.

Francesca.

PS: I could help out with copy editing for the site should anyone wish
for help in that regard.

It will be easier to hand out the www.syncro.com. au  address, rather than the http://autos. groups.yahoo. com/group/ Syncro_T3_ Australia/ address

Regards
Mark & Les.

Hi Christoph

you have the best archive anywhere of both this interesting and important material.

Thank you kindly for the permission to use as such - we will make more efforts to put more material up.

Aussie Syncronauts - a question:

Should the site remain pure, ie, just Aussie Syncro info, or would there be room, for example, for regular T3 brochures and articles. These of course apply to our vehicles in many respects (eg, describing the utility of the interior in an article), however, are not strictly Syncro.

Kind Regards
Mark.

Hi Mark

The gallery is great and in a very short space of time you are getting a lot of info up on the site. It's great to see some other Aus syncros in action. Be nice if there was a caption so one knew the specs/details/trip info for each pic but only if it is easy to do. I recognised Roger's syncro in there and yours but found myself wondering who some of the others belonged to.

I don't have any problem with other info going up on the site. I'm sure if it is nicely organised it will be of use to syncro owners as well.

Great work again.

It will be easier to hand out the www.syncro.com. au  address, rather than the http://autos. groups.yahoo. com/group/ Syncro_T3_ Australia/ address

You
can only view/download/ save these attached photos from your own email
facility, be it at hotmail, gmail, yahoo or whatever you normally use.

Cheers.

Ken
