Graham let this little adventure slip when I was around there last Friday as I was killing time waiting for the wedding party at a wedding I did in my 71 deluxe bus as the wedding was just up the street from him (literally 10 houses away).
Next time you need to invite the syncro nutters with baggage like wives and kids along.
We would have fun too.

Thanks Ken, an incredible event you staged ! Very well done ! To be in company of those great adventurers is a great privilege indeed, I have taken home so much especially that very little can be in the way of a Syncro (noun).

Ken,
Btw , in german the vehicle is masculine, i.e. DER Transorter and DER Syncro , and DER Bulli.
The mid-week event suited me well and really, how many other vehicles have we come across ? If we count in the park cleaner , I think there were 3 others, that Peugeot loner type and that lot who free loaded that folding table into their car, which might have belonged to the road gang...

re "Syncro (noun)".
Last time I looked, front and rear badges say "syncro". They do not say "Syncro". About half of original authentic VW syncro doccos I have seen say "syncro" throughout. So I've grown used to and like what I've seen and hence I'm more than content using "syncro". In any Australian linguistic context or contest, any need for "Syncro" is wasted on me.

Thanks for organising and leading the inaugural Watagan Mountains syncro Discovery Tour.
Tours are not easy to organise as all sorts of thing crop up unnexpectedly.
In just three days the four of us found ourselves in stunning campsites with vast panoramic views, we scaled near vertical pathways to the base of a waterfall cascading over a 150 foot semicircular rock face and swam and showered in the resulting deluge and pool. You found lots of money and we found lots of leeches.
The campfires burned hot , we got covered in dust and the syncros never faltered but after a night of rain and more to come, we headed home.
My comment as we headed back to civilisation was " How about we turn around and go back up " said it all.
Grey nomads, midweek trips and syncros rule.

Francesca,
By the time the thesis was finished, several more truckloads of kiddywinkie spelling examples would have appeared on the scene and the thesis would be outdated and redundant.
Someone mentioned predictive functions – another kiddywinkie manifestation that I absolutely abhor. It took ages for me to find how to turn off the predictive text function on my mobile phone – it came with predictive as the default function.
Now Google has gone the same way with their predictive search!
Les

Not still going on about upper case v lower case and the syntactic properties of S/syncros? I'm an editor, but even I am struggling to keep up with the evolving debate. Perhaps someone should write a thesis on the topic? And I am not volunteering....
Oh well, must mean our beasts are going well if we have time to devote to such stylistic niceties!
A s/Syncro by any other name would still roll as sweet.
Francesca.
