This *new* format of receiving messages throws me of the rails. If this stays like it is  I will give it a miss and will poss start restoring the RED, maybe not bad after all.......No , Les, the roll pin is fine but the Gullyraker Handle Version intrigues me no end and, I am sure Skott,  too, saves him  the trouble to start up the compressor............. Hartmut, You have lost me. What is it that is bull shit - the roll pin or the new format? Les

OK, I find that the new Yahoo reply function mess can be avoided…..by chopping off the unwanted parts, or all of it.  My last post re Roll Pins shows that both the Attach and the Insert functions still work as they did before.  I used both functions and the email came through with both.

Phill,

Yahoo persists with two entirely different formats.  One is the direct email function, which shows the attachments. The other is reading posts from the Yahoo page, which doesn’t.  Why?  GOK!

Phill,

Have you upset Yahoo lately?

Seriously, we are all getting a new format in which all the previous posts to an particular thread are rolled into one with no line breaks.  It’s the most awful mess and I haven’t yet found anything on Yahoo about it.

If you are not getting any text in your emails, it might be in your own email server setting or, infinitely worse, a clash between your email server and Yahoo.

Your email setting on the membership list is set to “Fully Featured”, which should let everything through.

Oh crikey!  That’s even worse!  He is probably performing one of those rituals common to the area where he is now living – dancing naked around bonfires, wax dolls and pins…  Maybe he got your effigy mixed up with mine.

Well, that makes it the more mysterious.  Let me think about it for a while.

Are you getting direct emails from the group?  If you are, you should be getting all text and attachments.  If not, I’m stumped!

Les

Yes but everything is blank, no text or attachments and when I return to my email page it does not register as read. All other email is OK.
It looks like some formatting problem as I can read the html code in "message source".

Maybe Yahoo changed something and my computer doesn't recognise it.

I'll have to get the wife onto it if it persists.

Gentlemen. I feel compelled to complete the story of the saga with the RTA. I finally got hold of the owner of Suncamper the day before I was booked in to get an Engineers certificate. He had just returned from overseas. His name is Keith Harrison and he bought the company on 1 April 1989. Still owns it. My Syncro was first registered on 1 March 1989. We had a good chat about the RTA (expletives deleted) and I told him about my hassles. I asked did he have any paperwork and of course the answer was no. He told me all about the modern practice of secondary compliance. Back in 1989 he remembers the previous owners had some sort of approval that he continued using for a few years. He suggested I have a look behind the curtains on the drivers side B pillar. Imagine my excitement when I found a sticker with a DMT approval number!!!!!! I have attached a photo.

I stood over my Blue Slip man while he rang the Sydney RTA that afternoon and he got the go ahead. Saved myself $650, phew. Lucky though that it was done in NSW as he had a similar problem with a QLD camper which had  QLD engineering approval and they would not accept that. Luckily mine was done in NSW before the Syncro was sent to Vic.

After parting with $1200 for Rego, plates and stamp duty etc, I now have lovely NSW slim line plates.

If you recall there was also the issue of whether it had factory air conditioning. Keith said that at this time he recalls they left Germany without it (hence no M number on the plate) but it was a factory supplied unit, installed in Sydney. This was, and still is a common practice. If you order a Ford Focus with a factory sun roof, the sun roof was most likely installed in Australia. So in my case. You could argue it has factory air conditioning. Perhaps a discussion point for the future. Hart recalls that a guy who worked next to his office in Brookvale did this sort of work on new cars every day.

That’s all for now, Regards, Peter.

PS. When I got home after getting this good news I sold my T3 for a very good price. The planets must have been aligned last Wednesday.

Good work! A win for the little guy.

I haven't seen factory air on a camper before, only the aircraft style. Usually if you ordered factory air here your van would be sent to Autofrost or the other dodgy company and they would cut a hole in your dash with a chainsaw.

Well done, Peter. A very satisfying conclusion to a frustrating experience: the little man triumphs over the faceless bureaucracy. Hope this bodes well for your future in Syncros.

….and my apologies Francesca for not addressing my little story to “Ladies” and Gentlemen!!!!

Peter

There is a nicely installed vent in the dashboard that matches the rest ,so I can only assume that in 1989 a proper tradesman did it, not dodgy brothers!!!

My T3 had the after market prestige air con put in by Trakka and it looked after market!!!!

Peter,
A salutary real life lesson indeed concerning the pitfalls of requiring engineering/blue slip compliance for whatever reasons, in particular for interstate purchases. Certainly a real win win finding the sticker eh. Begs the question ... what price a (removable) sticker??!! Guard it with your life!!

So given your real life scenario dealing with gods gift to NSW .... the RTA, should my syncro not get buried with me, then the subsequent owner best be from NSW. For my Trakka syncro, I hold zero compliance evidence from Trakka, neither in documentary or sticker forms. I assume they have been lost/removed during prior ownerships. Seeking Trakka assistance now would be futile.

For Trakka vans, it would be interesting to compare what level of vehicle detail is notated on the vehicles official Certificate of Registration. For example, on my Rego Certificate, there are NO notations concerning vehicle Model, Variant, GVM, GCN, Seating Capacity nor Axle Code. Maybe this demonstrates the RTA's efficiency/attention to detail?

Cheers.
Ken
